Example Opening Round

1. Team captains place Carrier, Battleship, Submarine, Destroyer, and Patrol Boat on the shared 7×7 grid
2. Both teams race an easy early tile (for example a common clue or mid-tier boss drop)
3. First approved proof attacks that tile on the enemy board — hit or miss is revealed
4. On a hit, the team focuses adjacent tiles to finish the ship; on a miss, they pivot to another sector
5. Private team chat is used to assign who is hunting which tile so work isn’t duplicated

Strategy Tips

• Spread your ships — don't cluster them in one area or a few lucky hits could sink multiple ships
• Target easy tiles first — complete easier bingo tasks early to scan more of the enemy board
• Focus fire — once you get a hit, complete adjacent tiles to sink the ship
• Hide ships near hard tiles — place ships on tiles with difficult tasks that opponents are less likely to complete
• Coordinate with your team — use team chat to assign tiles and avoid duplicate work
• Protect the Patrol Boat — the 2-tile ship is the easiest to overlook and often decides close games

Ship Placement Patterns That Actually Work

A 7×7 board has 49 tiles and the five ships cover 17 of them, so roughly a third of the board is occupied. That ratio is why placement pattern matters more than luck:

• Edge hugging — ships along the outer ring are harder to bracket, because a miss on the outside of the board gives the opponent no information about which direction to search next.
• The difficulty screen — put the Carrier across the row containing your hardest tiles. Opponents will naturally chase the easy tasks first, so your biggest ship survives the opening days.
• Deliberate decoy gaps — leaving an obvious-looking empty cluster in the middle of the board draws early attacks into dead space.
• Never stack parallel ships — two ships side by side turn a single lucky hit into a chain of sinks once the opponent sweeps the adjacent row.

The host's main job is picking 49 tasks with a workable difficulty spread. Aim for roughly a third quick tasks that anyone can finish in an hour, a third mid-tier drops, and a third genuine grinds. If every tile is a rare drop, neither team fires a shot and the board stalls; if every tile is easy, all five ships sink in a day.
